About This Print
A 16″ x 12″ fibre-based silver gelatin darkroom print of three bikers as they take a break on the hard shoulder of the North Circular at dusk during a meet-up of bikers on their way to the Ace Café in Outer London, circa 1964.
Authenticated and Signed Prints
The print is signed by Hoppy and was created for one of the solo exhibitions held during his lifetime. Hoppy was directly involved in the commissioning and printing process for every one of his exhibitions and took great care over the resultant prints. Fibre-based paper is considered to be the ultimate in archivally-stable analogue printing, using the silver gelatin process to craft beautiful and long-lasting images. This print is full-frame from the 35mm negative, as evidenced by the uneven black outline surrounding the image.
To complement the photographer’s signature on the front of the image, this print has been authenticated by the Estate of John ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins, and features an archivally-stable inked verso stamp containing the full print and authentication details, on the reverse of the print.
