FROM THE HIP – Photographs by JOHN ‘HOPPY’ HOPKINS 1960-66 is long out of print. Despite this, we have secured the last few remaining copies from the publisher, although they do not come with the protective acetate sleeve.
Featuring essays by Joe Boyd (‘Before the Revolution’), Val Wilmer (‘Shooting Jazz’), Barry Miles (‘Notting Hill Days’) and Addie Elliott-Vassie (‘Since the Sixties’), this collection of 185 photographs covers the full range of Hoppy’s subjects – spontaneous and revealing studies of jazz and rock greats, stark observations of counterculture figures both legendary and obscure, fond meditations on long-lost cityscapes and more.
