The Grassroots Mediazine series examines the way grassroots organisations utilise media in order to connect people across social, cultural and regional boundaries.
In GMZ#3 author Mugiko Nishikawa collated interviews with Hoppy that occurred between 2009 and 2014, in which he discussed his activities during his time as an influential activist in Notting Hill, including his involvement in the formation of the London Free School, the creation of International Times, BIT and much more.
[Mugiko] “What is necessary in order to become a good organiser?”
[Hoppy] “If you understand a situation correctly, what people are doing and what they are interested in, you don’t have to do very much in order to have a big effect.”
